As the Operations / Logistics Manager at our Albany location, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the daily operations of the production and logistics processes. Your primary focus will be to ensure efficient workflow, timely delivery of materials and products, and adherence to safety and quality standards. You will lead a team, coordinate with various departments, and drive continuous improvements in operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Management:
Plan, organize, and oversee daily production and logistics operations to ensure timely fulfillment of customer orders.
Monitor and improve workflows, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness in manufacturing and distribution.
Implement best practices for inventory control, warehousing, and distribution strategies.
Ensure adherence to company policies, industry regulations, and safety guidelines.
Logistics Coordination:
Oversee the scheduling, transportation, and distribution of products to meet delivery commitments.
Optimize supply chain operations, including vendor relations and inbound/outbound logistics.
Work closely with procurement to manage raw material availability and ensure uninterrupted production.
Team Leadership:
Supervise and mentor a team of logistics and operations personnel, fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration.
Recruit, train, and develop employees to enhance performance and career growth.
Conduct regular team meetings to align goals and address challenges.
Quality & Safety Compliance:
Enforce quality control measures to maintain high product standards.
Conduct routine inspections and implement corrective actions as necessary.
Promote and enforce workplace safety protocols, ensuring a hazard-free environment.
Process Improvement:
Identify and implement operational efficiencies to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute continuous improvement initiatives.
Utilize data-driven insights to refine processes and address operational bottlenecks.
Communication & Reporting:
Serve as the primary liaison between production, sales, procurement, and transportation teams.
Provide regular reports to senior management on operational performance, key metrics, and improvement strategies.
Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth business operations.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Proven experience in an operations or logistics management role within a manufacturing or distribution environment, preferably in the door industry.
Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing teams and driving results.
Knowledge of supply chain principles, inventory management, and transportation logistics.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant business management software.
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and move around the facility for extended periods.
Lift and carry materials and products as necessary (up to a certain weight limit).
Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
